The Martinelli family has been in the ranching business longer than anyone can remember, including Leroy himself, who is the owner of the ranch at 94 years old. Leroy was born and raised on the ranch and has the stories to prove it. Ranching life has run thick through the Martinelli lineage. From Leroy's Father's side purchasing the family's original 600-acre home ranch next door in the 1880s, to his mother's 300+ acre ranch in Tomales that was passed down to her from her mother, ranching is what they know. The property has seen a range of different uses involving the agricultural business, and some uses outside agriculture as well. From a deep history of dairy, sheep, and beef cattle ranch work, The Martinelli property was also home to alcohol stills that allowed local bar operations to remain open underground during prohibition in the late 1920s
